Join us for a Find Your Fun afternoon at Symphony Hall as newly appointed Music Director Designate Paolo Bortolameolli opens a new chapter in the orchestra’s history. The program features Sergei Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 5 — a triumph of power, lyricism, and irony, premiered in 1945 as Soviet victory over Nazi Germany drew near — alongside Mikhail Glinka’s dazzling Overture to Ruslan and Ludmilla. At the heart of the afternoon is Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3, one of the most technically demanding works in the repertoire (and famously featured in the film Shine), performed by Van Cliburn Gold Medalist Olga Kern.
