Mikey’s league is an all-inclusive sports program designed to transform its participants’ lives by pushing them to excel. To allow all kids to play, regardless of ability. Its founding was inspired by Karl Benders’ brother Mikey Bender, born with cerebral palsy and a backward heart. This organization hosts flag-football programs and basketball.
BIO: Karl Bender is Mikey’s brother and the founder of Mikey’s League. While serving our country in Iraq, his unit built soccer fields and created soccer leagues for that country. When he returned home be wanted to make something for people who were just like his brother. A place where everyone can play.
Scott Freeman, another founder of Mikey’s League, has worked with the disability community for 13 years.
